Milford Sound is situated on the west coast of the South Island in New Zealand. It is a fusion of spectacular natural wonder with amazing view at every corner. Historically, Milford Sound was carved by glaciers thousands of years ago to create the stunning mountainous cliffs that rise vertically scraping the sky and plunge dramatically from thousands of feet high down to the ocean floor. The sparkling waterfalls cascade down at about 1000 metres height into the dark waters of the ocean.
Cruising by boat on Milford Sound is the perfect way to experience the grand scale and incredibly breathtaking beauty of the place. Getting so close to glistening waterfalls was an amazing experience whilst feeling the mist on your face as you appreciate the magnificent mountains towering above you. This place is unbelievably magical and awe-inspiring. And Kipling was absolutely correct in saying Milford Sound is the “Eight Natural Wonder of the World.”
We took a Trips and Tramps tour from Te Anu to Milford Sound and it stopped in many different tourist spots and allowed us to take stunning pictures of an amazing landscape.
TIP: We were told that to experience the total magic of this amazing place, it must be seen twice; on a sunny day and on a rainy day.
