Coronado Island is a relaxed Southern Californian beach town. It is blessed with one of the world’s best beaches, endless sunshine and a bay side overlooking San Diego’s skyline. The island is only three and a bit kilometre- drive from the cosmopolitan downtown San Diego. The soaring Coronado Bridge with its 90 degree-curve high enough above the water that considerable size airplanes can dock in San Diego Harbour and a tourist attraction in itself, connects cosmopolitan downtown San Diego with Coronado Island.
The island is home to the famous beachfront Hotel del Coronado with its iconic red turrets piercing the vivid blue Californian sky. The Hotel del Coronado has been popularly known as one of America’s most beautiful resorts. The Hotel radiates with a confidence of gracious Victorian splendour that is without equal.
TIP: Go for a stroll at Orange Avenue. There’s a great selection of casual and reasonably priced restaurants just outside the Hotel, but obviously, they won’t have the beachfront view.
